Getting to Lapland
Where is Lapland?
Lapland as a region spreads across northern parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia. The bulk however, is located in Finland, and is where all Visit Santa Holidays will take place.
Which airport will we be flying to?
Finland has a number of airports near Lapland, namely Rovaniemi, Enontekio and Kittila. Your destination airport will be decided in accordance with which package you opt for - please see individual trip itineraries for details of where you will be flying to. If the airport is not specified in the itinerary it will then be confirmed at time of booking.
How long will it take to get to our destination?
Flight time from Ireland to Finland is approximately 3-3 & a half hours. Transfer time to your resort can be anything from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the airport you land in, which resort you're going to and the method of transportation. Some of our trips use bus transfers, while others take steam trains, snowmobiles or husky and reindeer-drawn sleighs. For more information, see details of your individual trip itinerary or Contact Us.
All of our Lapland Holidays have departure dates from Dublin Airport, while a select number can also be arranged from Belfast International Airport.
Both airports have 24 hour parking facilities. If departing from Dublin, park in the Long Term car park as the Short Term alternative is only recommended for stays of up to five hours. A courtesy bus service runs from the car park to both terminals and takes 10-20 minutes.
Parking in Belfast Airport is divided according to short breaks and longer holidays. Leave the car in the Main Stay car park if you're only going for a couple of days, or in the Long Stay for extended trips. The Short Stay park is only intended for waits of a couple of hours, and is within walking distance of the terminal, as is the Main Stay park. A courtesy bus service runs between the terminal and Long Stay car park.
